Discover how to reign in life

To discover how to reign in life, we need to know a couple of things. First, we need to know who we are in Christ, what we have in Christ and what we can do in Christ. So we need to know our identity, our legal status, our potential, and our motives in Christ.

Our identity and legal status in Christ

In Christ Jesus, we are God’s beloved, righteous, wise, healthy, wealthy, and responsible sons, heirs, and co-workers of God.

In 2 Corinthians 5:21 it is written: For God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

In 1 Corinthians 1:30 it is written: But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God-and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

In Isaiah 53:4-5 it is written: Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities.

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes, we are healed.

In 2 Corinthians 8:9 it is written: For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

In Romans 8:16-17 it is also written: The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

And in Genesis 1:26 it is written: Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Our potential in Christ

Due to God’s love for us and our faith in His gift of righteousness, God Has given us His abundance of grace and He has given us the Holy Spirit and the spiritual gifts, for the profit of all.

In Romans 5:17 it is written: For if by one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

And in 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 it is written: There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.

Our motive in Christ

Our motive is faith working through love because in Christ Jesus only faith working through love avails everything.

In Matthew 3:17 it is written: And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “this is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

And in John 17:22-23 it is written: And the glory that You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me, that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

In John 15:9-10 it is written: As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

And in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 it is also written: For the love of Christ compels us because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

We have seen that to reign in life we must be conscious of the fact that Christ Jesus has made us suitable through His work of redemption. When we are purposeful and conscious of our suitability, in Christ Jesus, we can go from suitability to effectiveness, in reigning in life, if we are indeed purposeful and consecrated.
