Key of life

Key of life

The key of life is believing in Christ Jesus and in His work of salvation. In John 14:6 Jesus said: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

And in John 15:5 Jesus said: I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

And in John 10:10 Jesus said: I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.

Why do we need Jesus?

We need Jesus because as sinners we need a saviour who can save us, guide us, protect us, and provide for us. And Jesus is the God who saves as the Lamb of God who came to save the world.

In John 3:16 it is written: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

So to have the everlasting life we must believe in Christ Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. In other words, we have to accept Christ Jesus and the consequences of His work of salvation, through faith.

How to believe in Christ Jesus

When we believe in Christ Jesus it’s a sign that we have taken God and Christ Jesus seriously at their words of Who they said that Jesus is.

In John 14:12 it is written: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

In Romans 10:8-10 it is written: The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

And in Romans 10:17 it is written: So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Jesus.

Consequences of believing in Christ Jesus

When we believe in Christ Jesus, we have taken God and the Lord Jesus seriously on Their words so that we will take the right position and actions so that the fulfilment of God’s word can take place.

In Romans 1:16-17 it is written: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

And in Hebrews 4:2-3 it is written: For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them, but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said.

Conclusion

The key of life is to believe in Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, Who has come to give us everlasting life and to give us life abundantly. To receive everlasting life we just have to believe in Jesus. To have life abundantly we have to continue to have faith in Christ Jesus on all the seven areas of necessities.
